Consulting Information
Morgan Korzik, MSFS, has a passion for STEM education and the intersection of science and art, utilizing a background in biology and forensic science. He is specialized in DNA extraction, qPCR, STR amplification, and capillary electrophoresis and experienced in lab training and management, instrument maintenance, and scientific writing. He had a hand in processing over 50,000 samples in a high-throughput forensic laboratory setting and trained multiple individuals in forensic DNA laboratory techniques.
Utilizing this background, he developed and teaches a forensic biology course currently offered at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The course explores aspects of fingerprint and microscopic hair analysis but primarily focuses on bodily fluid identification and DNA analysis. He expands on his educational background by serving as the Director of Biology Teaching Labs at the same institution, working to train undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants and uphold safety standards.

Services
Case Consultation
The Consultant provides independent consultation in the areas of forensic biology and forensic DNA analysis. Services may include review and interpretation of forensic biological and DNA evidence, laboratory reports, analytical data, electropherograms, statistical conclusions, laboratory methodologies, quality assurance documentation, and related forensic materials.
This engagement does not include:

Laboratory testing or independent DNA testing

Reanalysis of evidence in a laboratory

Independent generation of DNA profiles or probabilistic-genotyping results

Services outside the Consultant's areas of education, training, and professional experience
The Consultant will notify the retaining attorney if requested services fall outside the Consultant's qualifications or the agreed scope of work.
Education for Legal Teams
The Consultant provides independent consultation in the areas of forensic biology and forensic DNA analysis. Services may include meetings, presentations, workshops, assigned readings, and hands-on mock lab activities. Online or in-person options are available. The Consultant is located in the Triangle area of North Carolina. In-person services outside this region may incur additional expenses.

Lesson Planning
The Consultant provides independent consultation to assist in lesson planning for 1) police departments and/or forensic labs visiting schools and 2) high school teachers who teach forensic science.
Online lesson plan materials are already available on the site. This service allows the Consultant to assist you one-on-one with the course development and lesson planning tailored to your specific needs.
This service is free of charge for police departments, forensic laboratories, and school teachers in the state of North Carolina.
